In 1995, manufacturers were adapting to European machinery safety requirements. For many small and medium-sized businesses, identifying the applicable rules, assessing risks and preparing the necessary documentation was a demanding new task. Willy Lebherz began helping them turn those requirements into practical engineering decisions and clear conformity documentation.
Practical expertise, built on real projects
Drawing on years of technical project management in a federal procurement organisation, Willy Lebherz established Ifco-Experts, the predecessor to easyCE. His background in measurement and control technology and occupational safety brought a practical engineering perspective to legislation and harmonised standards. That combination of technical understanding and hands-on project work remains central to easyCE today.

Which products does a proposal cover?
Your proposal covers the products, variants and tasks agreed with easyCE. Closely related models may share assessment work when their design, intended use and hazards justify it.
We check the differences before treating products as a series. This establishes which evidence can be reused and which variants need additional work, so the scope and deliverables remain clear.
Will we receive editable documents?
Yes. We provide the documents we prepare in editable Microsoft Word format, where applicable, so your team can maintain and use them. You do not need to purchase specialist CE software to access those documents.
The proposal defines the agreed deliverables and the rights to use them. Supporting records supplied by laboratories, suppliers or other third parties may use different formats.
Who is responsible for conformity, and when is a notified body needed?
easyCE carries out the agreed assessment and documentation work. The manufacturer remains responsible for product conformity and the required declaration. A notified body is involved only where the applicable assessment procedure requires one.
A notified body’s certificate is part of the supporting evidence; it does not replace the manufacturer’s declaration. We identify the required procedure, coordinate the relevant work and prepare the agreed declaration ready to sign.
The applicable product legislation determines which documents must accompany the product and how long records must be retained. The technical file is not normally supplied in full with each product, but must be available to the authorities when required. Contractual responsibilities are defined in your agreement with easyCE.
Do you update documents when requirements change?
We review changes to legislation, standards and your product, identify the effect on your documentation and carry out the updates you commission. A new legal requirement or standard does not automatically mean that every existing product needs a new assessment.
Applicable dates, transition arrangements and the basis of the original assessment need to be checked. Applying harmonised standards is generally voluntary; publication in the Official Journal does not by itself make every new edition compulsory. Ongoing monitoring and updates should form an agreed part of your project scope.
